Hello. Hello. Hello.

Well, it's been quite a while since my last post.  I realize that; and although it has been on my mind for the past couple of days....maybe week or two, I still had not had the time to update.  Nevertheless, I have news, a considerable amount.


All throughout the month of June I was in and out of the guidance suite; if not, I was anticipating news or information.  Luckily, it was air-conditioned (unlike the rest of the school complex, unfortunately.)  Moving on, I truly was successful in the end. There was a meeting which also involved the director of the guidance department.  I think I managed to woo her, which I've been told I can be very enthusiastic and persuasive by others.  (I plan to keep on using those to the best of my ability. ;D ) 


However, there were still some obstacles that had to be crossed.  Several, but possibly on a lesser extent, that to this day are still there.  The question of academic credit was raised and that was the main issue during June.   School was soon to close and I had to get approval from the school to first even apply for the program.  Reason for that being that scholarships are highest during the summer which I hope and applied for.  Details to follow shortly.  Long story short, after countless meanings and research from both myself and inquiries with Andrew and other AFS student advisors.  On the final day of school, I was told to go ahead and apply.

Next hurdle to cross, the preliminary application, which also requires a $75 fee.  That final part was the sketchy part.  Once more, I managed to use my talents in my favor to convince mother to let me apply.  From there, comes the waiting game.  Great, seeing how patience for me is something which I don't like to practice.  After a week, which to me seemed much longer, emails arrived with information from the local AFS volunteer and the full application.  That lifted my mood as now this endeavor of just the pre-departure work is starting to take shape.

Which brings me to the current month and date.  I am working on that full application.  Fortunately, scholarships for next year's fall won't open until later this summer.  So, that gives me a bit more time to work on this full application.  Oh, and speaking to the title of this blog.  My sister has done me a substantial aid.  She got me a temporary summer job!  I am working as a "marketer" for my local Metro PCS dealer.  Now, personally, the job isn't out-of-this-world seeing as going from door-to-door dropping flyers isn't what I find to be ideal.  Not to mention, we're currently under a heat-wave in which being outside for prolonged periods of time is unbearable. In spite of that, it pays more than summer employment from the school district and will help me financially for AFS-related materials.  Hopefully, it'll be worth it.  Wait, scratch that, I'll make it worth it.

I swear I sometimes see an oasis.
